By 2022, Gujarat to have over 30 GW of renewable energy

Gujarat state government has announced that the State will have over 30 GW of renewable energy by 2022. The State has also prepared the roadmap for the generation of renewable energy.  Gujarat renewable energy: Currently, Gujarat has a total production of 9,670 MW renewable energy. It includes 2,654 MW solar energy and 6,880 MW wind energy.  In the industrial production section, Gujarat has overtaken Maharashtra as its contribution increased to 16.81% as compared to 14.21% of Maharashtra.  Growth of Gujarat: ♦ The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) rate of Gujarat grew at an average of 10.01% between 2013-14 to 2017-18. It is the highest rate in the country. ♦ The Diamond Research and Mercantile (Dream) City is being built in Surat. It is expected to have 66 lakh square feet of office space, which will be the highest in one building. Currently, the Pentagon in the US has a 65 lakh square feet area, which is the highest available space in one building.  ♦ In the last five years, the tourism sector of the State has also witnessed an average increase of 14.5% in tourist inflows.
