NCRB organized 20th All India Conference of Directors of Fingerprint Bureaus

National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) organized the 20th All India Conference of Directors of Fingerprint Bureaus in New Delhi. Union Minister of State for Home, Shri G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated the conference on 17 October 2019. Aim: The main objective of the NCRB's conference was to highlight the importance of fingerprints in crime investigation. The 2-day conference aimed to make the fingerprinting facility more useful and accessible to investigators. The conference focused on capacity building of Fingerprint fraternity through collaboration with academic institutions and international agencies.  NAFIS: NCRB has successfully rolled out the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS). It is a network-based pan India system that records and shares the fingerprints of criminals in various crimes.  Central Fingerprint Bureau in NCRB maintains the fingerprint records of the criminals. National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB): Formed on: 11 March 1986 Headquarters: New Delhi Director: Ramphal Pawar NCRB is responsible for collecting and analyzing crime data as defined by Special and Local Laws (SLL) and Indian Penal Code (IPC).
