MoD to increase the defence export to around Rs.35,000 crore

An estimate made by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said that India is expecting at a three-fold jump, around Rs.35,000 crore, in its defence exports by 2024. The announcement about the estimate was made by Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat at an event of the Indigenous Defence Equipment Exporters Association held at New Delhi. The defence exports is currently Rs.11,000 crore. Government's measure: ♦ Centre aims to provide the resources needed to the armed forces to maintain peace and stability. ♦ It also has introduced many initiatives that aim to empower well-trained manpower, soldiers, sailors, and airmen. ♦ Numerous initiatives have been taken, and various schemes have been launched to energize the defence sector in India.  ♦ MoD is to conduct the next defence expo in Lucknow in the first and second weeks of February 2020. In the defence expo, defence industries supported by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and private enterprises will showcase their worth.
