India, Philippines signed 4 MoUs to strengthen bilateral ties

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind is on a five days visit to the Philippines. President Kovind held talks with his Philippine counterpart Rodrigo Duterte.  Highlights: ♦ India and the Philippines signed 4 MoUs during President Kovind's visit. ♦ The agreements include the sharing of white shipping information between the Philippine Coast Guard and the Indian Navy.  White shipping information is an exchange of advance information on the movement and identity of commercial non-military merchant vessels. ♦ India and the Philippines agreed to strengthen defence and maritime security partnerships and to make it a key pillar of bilateral cooperation between the countries. ♦ The two sides committed to work closely together to defeat and eliminate terrorism in all its forms. ♦ The leaders reaffirmed their active cooperation in political, counter-terrorism, defence, and security,  trade, and investment as well as in agriculture, science & technology and health fields. ♦ India has committed itself to participate in infrastructure development as well as in defence modernization of the Philippines.
