Centre partners with NITI Aayog and FB for the 2nd phase of GOAL

Ministry of Tribal Affairs has partnered with NITI Aayog and Facebook for the Second Phase of Going Online as Leaders (GOAL), a facebook program.  Aim: GOAL aims to inspire, guide, and encourage the tribal girls from pan India to become village-level digital young leaders for their communities.  GOAL: GOAL was launched in March 2019. It connects underprivileged young tribal women with senior expert mentors to learn digital and life skills in various areas of business, fashion, and arts.  Second Phase: ♦ In the second phase of the GOAL program, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Facebook plans to mentor 5000 young women in India’s tribal-dominated districts digitally. ♦ The program includes weekly one-to-one mentoring sessions. It focuses on many skills, including digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and online safety.  ♦ It will provide guidance through the Facebook family of apps for more than 200,000 hours of guidance. The apps include WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.  ♦ The participants will be graduating after the training. The GOAL alumni will continue to receive support and guidance from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Facebook. ♦ Over 125 Indian young women have enrolled in the GOAL program. The candidates use the internet to highlight issues of their communities and have expressed a desire to set up their own business.
